May Favorites

Having children that play sports can really eat at your time.  I have another blog that I've been running for almost five years so that and sports take up most of my freetime.  Because of that I've had a difficult time getting this blog up and running.

So, even thought it's the middle of June, I thought that I would share my favorite things from the month of May.

First and foremost, handbags.  I shop quite a bit at thrift stores, and I love Coach bags.  I was treated horribly at a Coach store so they won't EVER get any of my money.  However,  I will purchase them second hand.  These were the two bags that I carried for the month of May.  The brown was approximately $20 and the maroon was $30.

Next up, we have shoes.  I own way too many pair of Chucks, and these are the two pair that I have been wearing the most.  My husband recently took a trip to Vietnam and bought these for me.  They are significantly cheaper since they are actually made in Vietnam and China.  Also, I wear my Jessica Simpson flats to work daily and my Coach sandals which I got for a steal at Ross.  Very comfortable.

These two jackets were on repeat during May because it was still quite cool in the mornings and has been raining sporadically.  The coral jacket is from Gap which I bought for $10 years ago and a Nautical jacket that I bought for $5 at a thrift store.

I paint my nails every single week.  Nail polish off on Thursdays and repainted on Saturdays to give them a break.  From left to right-Sally Hanson Gilded Lily (toes only), Sephora by Opi, Rimmel London in Purple Rain and Posh Pink, and Butter London in Scallywag.  I have tried many base and top coat and Revlon is by far my favorite.

I am not a make-up person.  My daily routine consists of lipstick.  Mascara and eyeshadow if I'm feel like going through that motion.  I don't wear foundation, powder, concealer, primer, etc.  I take very good care of the skin on my face so I don't have to cover it up.  My favorites this monty was the Starlook eyeshadow pencil in Topaz, Be A Bombshell quad in Bora Bora, Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow in Champagne, Pixi mascara, and Elizabeth Mott's It's So Big mascara.  All of these came from various iPsy bags which is a monthly beauty subscription.  The two clear eyeshadow brushes are from an Ulta free gift with purchase, and the Soho brush was also from an iPsy bag.

Now for jewelry.  I own a lot of jewelry that I don't use enough.  For this month, I wore this sparkly bracelet that my kids bought me for Mother's Day.  My oldest said that he picked it out because it was the sparkliest one.  He knows me so well.  My Anne Klein watch.  Almot every single watch that I own is from Anne Klein as they make a good, fashionable watch.  A sterling silver ring that I bought three years ago from Loehmann's.  A pair of CZ clip-on earrings that I bought from Nordstrom's Rack around three years ago as well.  Finally, my Tiffany & Co bracelet with the extra large heart tag.  My mother-in-law bought this limited edition bracelet for me one Christmas.  I wear it every single day.  I had it repaired after not wearing it for about 6 months, and I am really enjoying wearing it again.

I have two Kindle Fires after my husband bought the newest version for me for Christmas. I use both of them to watch YouTube videos and for reading.  However, I have gotten hooked on House on Netflix (I finished it in about three week), and I finished Cursed.  I loved it and can't wait to finish the trilogy.

Finally, we have a pair of pink Beats by Dr. Dre.  I've been wanting a pair for a long time, and my husband bought these for me when he went to Vietnam.  He got them for a good price because they are a discontinued style.

That's it for my monthly favorites.  I hope that you enjoyed this (way too long) post.

What's in My Bag

I have an unhealthy obsession with handbags.  So, since I just bought a new one and was switching out of an old one, I wanted to share what I tend to pack with me on a daily basis.

I would like to preface this by saying that I do keep my bag this neat.  I clean it out either before I go to bed or before I leave the house the next day.  I HATE a messy handbag.

I recently purchased this Kate Spade bag from my favorite thrift store for $45.  I don't usually go for handheld bags as I love a good shoulder bag, but I couldn't resist this color.

This is the contents of my bag.  It looks like a lot, but I could fit so much more in this bag.  I love hot pink so most of my accessories tend to have some variation of it in my bag.  My little note pad is from Michael's and comes with a pen that actually works.  I also carry gum and mints.  My favorite gum is Orbit Cinnamint and RPM 5 in the green package.  Altoids Smalls Cinnamon are in the little tin.

I don't go anywhere without my Kindle Fire.  I have two, and I refuse to give up my old one. When one goes dead, I have the other as a back-up.  I'm still on the look out for a hot pink case for this one.  My old one has a hot pink cover.

I don't wear make-up so to speak.  My routine consists of lipstick and mascara. I wear eyeshadow if I feel like fitting it in.  My make-up bag is from ipsy which is a subscription box.  In it I keep Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet, Milani lipstick in Sangria, Kate Moss for Rimmel London in #60, Nivea creme, Bath & Body Works hand sanitizer in Gemini, Travalo filled with Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom, and two lip balms.  The Burt's Bees is for me, and the Cocoa Butter is for my youngest son.

As you can see, I don't carry a wallet.  They take up too much room, and I don't need it.  My card ase is a hot pink Coach that I bought from the outlet.  I want another one without the wrist strap.  I don't have any credit cards so I just need it for my license, debit card, and insurance cards.  Next to it is a patterned J. Crew case where I keep store cards and gift cards.  I bought it from my favorite thrift store for .99.  The pink case is for my camera. I don't go anywhere without it as I'm not a big fan of the cameras on cell phones.  I shoot my pictures with a Sony Cyber-shot 14.1 megapixel.  I want an SLR, but it's just not in the budget.

On the bottom row is a Dooney & Bourke coin purse. I really want a Louis Vuitton Cles, but again, not in the budget.  This one does the job just fine, and I only paid $1 for it.  Next to it is my iPhone 5c in the coral color and my brush/mirror combo from Target.

I bought this little sock coin purse to house my earbuds.  I have an old set of iPhone buds as I gave the new set to my son.  The new shape is uncomfortable in my small ears.  However, the black and pink Skull Candy are the ones I use daily.  Great sound, and I want a matching set of headphones.

I wear a different pair of sunglasses almost everyday.  I have over 30 pair so I just choose a pair to fit my mood.  These are Escada that I bought from a resale shop when I lived in Houston, TX that I'm using today.  I own every thing from Chanel to $5 Naturalizer.  I didn't know that they made sunglasses, did you?

Here is how everything fits in my bag.  I don't always carry my Kindle, but it fits in nicely.  The animal print key chain is from Glitzy Glam, and the other side has my initial on it in hot pink.  My sunglass case fits right on top.

I hope that you enjoyed my post, and I want to know, what do you keep in your bag?

TMI Tag

What better way to re-introduce myself than to do a tag that I saw on Youtube.  The TMI tag seemed to be one that's floating around, and I actually liked the questions.

Question One:

1.  What are you wearing?

Well, I'm stuck at home with my husband and sons because it's a snow day.  So, I'm wearing a Football Mom t-shirt and Lauren Ralph Lauren drawstring pants.  No shoes.  No jewelry.

2.  Ever been in love?

Of course.  I'm completely in love with my husband of almost 17 years.

3.  Ever had a terrible breakup?

Yes.  My first boyfriend.  He was not happy when he found out that we were going to both be attending the same college.  He basically ignored me and had the nerve to get angry when he saw me talking to other boys.

Well, Karma is a bitch as they say.  He bombed out.  I came within .02 points of graduating with honors.

4.  How tall are you?

5 ft. 7 in.

5.  How much do you way?

195.  I've lost 20 pounds, and I want to lose 20 more. Then I'll be at the weight I was before I had my second child.  That's a good weight for me.  Not too thin.  Not to big.

6.  Any tattoos?

Yes.  I have a rose on my ankle that I got in college.  I would like another on my other ankle-my sons' birthdays in Roman numerals.

7.  Any piercings?

Just my ears.

8.  OTP?

I don't even know what that means.

9.  Favorite show?

I never miss an episode of Criminal Minds.  I love the crazies.

10.  Favorite Bands?

Bon Jovi.  I own their greatest hits CD and listen to it all the time.

11.  Something you miss?

Freedom from bills!

12.  Favorite song?

Mary Jane by Rick James.

13.  How old are you?

A lady never tells her age.

14.  Zodiac sign?

Gemini

15.  Quality you look for in a partner?

Sense of humor, honesty, and hustle.

16.  Favorite quote?

Don't piss on me and call it rain.

17.  Favorite actor.

Samuel Jackson.  Period.  End of discussion.  He's a bad ass.

18.  Favorite color.

Any shade of pink but mostly hot pink and fuschia.

19.  Loud music or soft?

Loud.

20.  Where do you go when you're sad?

Hmmm....my bedroom?

21.  How long does it take you to shower?

I don't like showers.  I take about a 10-12 minute bath.

22.  How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

Depends on what I'm doing.  If I substitute teach, about 20 minutes.  Running errands, about 15.

23.  Ever been in a physical fight?

Yes.  I got into a fight in third grade with my best friend.  In middle school, I got into a fight with our quarterback.  He called my mom a bitch.

Starting Over

So, I ditched my blog for a year because, let's face it, I'm no lifestyle blogger.  I was just jumping on the bandwagon and don't want to be a lifestyle blogger.

Therefore, I'm starting over.  I deleted everything.  I'm not ashamed to do this.  My passion is actually another blog that I have and been writing on for over three years-The Fashionable Teacher-which where I grade celebrity fashion.

With that being said, I've always wanted to have a personal style blog.

I'm just going to post pictures of my outfits a la Logomania, Atlantic-Pacific, Classy Girls Wear Pearls, etc. without text.  I don't have a fancy camera.  Just a little point and shoot.  My 8 year-old will probably take my pictures.  On top of that, my make-up routine consists of lipstick, mascara, and eyeshadow for church on Sundays.

Next week, I should be up and running.
